The coronavirus crisis has led to a true boom in the gaming industry, because people spend more time playing video games, as shown by Bitkom's research.

As many as 55% Germans said that, since the epidemic began, they had been playing more on their computers and consoles, on average seven hours a week more than before.

That nearly doubles the time spent playing games before the restrictions were implemented, the authors of the study say.

It's not only the playing time that has increased, but the spending on video games too.

Whereas the average expenditures on video games before coronavirus amounted to 15 euros a month, they have now jumped to 24 euros.

According to the survey, nearly a half of German citizens, that is, 46% of them, play games on their computers or consoled at least occasionally.

Compared to last year, it's a growth by 3%.
