Construction of first public garage in Kragujevac starts soon - 200 vehicles a day
After few years of delays, construction of the first public garage in Kragujevac will, finally, start soon. According to the official information from the city administration, the first public garage in Kragujevac will be built in the city core, that is, in Kneza Miloša Street, in the location of 11.5 acres. According to the preliminary solution made by Belgrade-based Parking Servis, the garage will have about 200 parking places on one underground and five overground levels.
The City Council adopted the decision at its last meeting on the public procurement procedure for selection of the bidder for elaboration of main project for the public garage in Kragujevac.
It is expected that the main project will be finished in 45 days, which will be followed by the selection of contractors and commencement of realization of the investment. Construction of the public garage in Kragujevac will be financed by the city administration and local public company Parking Servis. People in the City Assembly claim that the money for construction of the garage is included in the city budget for this year.
According to earlier announcements by city planners, due to traffic jams in the city core and lack of parking space, Kragujevac was supposed to get three public garages in 2009. However, that project was given up because of the financial crisis, which was also the reason why only the top-priority investments in the city were financed last year.
