USA donated 15m USD worth of software to primary schools in Republic of Srpska
U.S. IT corporation Intel donated 15m USD worth of software for use of computers in schools yesterday (February 22, 2010) to the Government of Republic of Srpska. This is an extension of the "e-learning" project in Southeat Europe, which is implemented by Intel in association with regional and local partners such as international ComTrade Group and Banjaluka's company Lanako.
In this way the Republic of Srpska was given the right to use digital educational contents and the right to translate and adapt the software to the needs of the curriculum in primary schools.
In the talk with the Vice President of Intel Corporation, John Davis, the Prime Minister of RS, Milorad Dodik, welcomed introduction of new technologies in the teaching processes in RS.
According to the agreement that was signed yesterday by the Minister of Education and Culture of RS, Anton Kasipović, and Mr. Davis, the primary schools in RS will be enabled to use Intel's computer programs in biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics classes.
- The value of donation is 15m USD. These programs are used in 65 countries worlwide and they are translated into 15 languages. Its use in Srpska will start the next school year - said Kasipović.
The "e-learning" project in our region lasts for nearly 2 years. Its aim is to introduce new technologies in the classrooms all around Southeast Europe. Intel, ComTrade and local partners have successfully implemented projects for educational systems in Serbia and Macedonia, and now in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well, while all other countries will be included in the project in the future.
- ComTrade and Intel maintain long-time cooperation at many different level, but the "e-learning" project set the new standards in the volume of operations and the significance to local environment - said Miloš Mirjanić from ComTrade Group.
