The deputy mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic, also recently announced that the construction of the Belgrade subway would begin before the end of 2021. He added that the General Regulation Plan of the Rail Systems would be adopted in September, enabling the issuing of the construction permit.
– The plan will also enable the further development of the BG Voz system and the connecting of Surcin and Obrenovac with the system, as well as a better connection of other suburban municipalities – Vesic said on TV Pink, as reported by Beoinfo.
Let us remind that, this February, Vesic announced that the construction of the subway system, which would be worth around EUR 3.8 billion, should begin in late 2020
. At a public presentation about the quality of air in Serbia, organized by the Board for Environmental Protection of the National Assembly, he said that, upon the completion of the project, around 30% of the street traffic would move underground.
In mid-May, the governments of Serbia and France signed an agreement on a donation of EUR 8.3 million for the realization and financing of the Belgrade subway project
– This agreement entails that we will start preparing a feasibility study, a preliminary design and an environmental impact assessment for the first phase, that is, the first subway line. However, we will also get a proposal of the conceptual design of a third subway line in Belgrade – Zorana Mihajlovic said at the time and added that there were talks with Chinese partners at the same time.
The public procurement plan of the Secretariat for Public Transport in Belgrade envisaged for the contest for the designing of the subway station to open in June
