Brodoremont's demolition started - 350m RSD paid to Yugoslav River Shipping
The representatives of Yugoslav River Shipping (JRB) and the City of Belgrade signed the Protocol on fee for demolition of Brodoremont (a JRB's unit), which is necessary for construction of the bridge across Ada Ciganlija. The City paid about 350m RSD to JRB, and the demolition of facilities started on February 12th.
Brodoremont occupied 2.4 ha on New Belgrade's bank of the Sava river. It comprised halls with workshops, administrative building, overnight stay, pontoon bridge and equipment for overhaul of ships. One of the pillars of the new bridge will be situated in that location.
- The money that the City paid will be used for investments, and one part may be set aside for realization of the social program. However, the Privatization Agency needs to give consent for all that - says Milan Vidaković, a member of JRB's Administrative Board, and adds that Brodoremont will occupy about 1 ha of land in the future.
Slavko Mrđa from JRB's Independent trade union says that the employees are satisfied with the amount of compensation. He says that JRB's trade unions will ask for part of the money to be set aside for the social program, as well as that the management will be asked to include the social program in the collective contract.
- That means that the buyer will be also obliged to respect that item of the collective contract. Also, we ask from the management to provide the conditions for work in Belgrade for those who decide to stay in the company, and not to force them to go to Brodoremont in Pančevo - says Mrđa.
JRB's workers have, so far, prevented demolition of Brodoremont on two occasions. At the end of the last month, they used barges to block the Sava in the vicinity of Branko's bridge on one hour. According to his words, independent appraiser estimated the value of property at 4.5m EUR, and the negotiations on compensation between JRB, the City and EDDSG - Zoran Drakulić's company that was the first-ranked bidder on the tender for acquisition of JRB, were discontinued for unknown reasons.
As they say, about 1.3m EUR was later offered for compensation, and they were against that. The Privatization Agency terminated the contract on sale of JRB in early February because Drakulić's company did not pay the first installment after the extension of the deadline that expired on January 29th.
