A model of what the Sports and Business Center of Vojvodina (SPENS) will look like after it is fully reconstructed has been presented to the public, and the topic was discussed by the mayor of Novi Sad, Milos Vucevic, and the dean of the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad and the leader of the design team, Dr Rade Doroslovacki.

– Our plan is to complete the project-technical documentation and present the project and apply for the Serbia 2025 program in some 12 to 14 months, so as to get funds and start this big project. Our intention is to organize the first floor better in terms of functionality, to have a department of the City Library there, along with a gallery area, but also the Center for Artificial Intelligence. In order to achieve this, we must be fully dedicated and have the model turn into a preliminary design and then into the project-technical documentation and finally into the construction itself. Our aim is to replace the whole roof, the facade, the stairs, to rebuild all the halls, locker rooms, bathrooms and toilets – Vucevic emphasized, as reported on the city's website.

He announced that the City of Novi Sad would soon prepare the tendering procedure for the Workers' University.

Doroslovacki said that the moment had come for SPENS to be brought back to its former glory:

– The reconstruction of the facility of over 80,000 m2 is the biggest endeavor of its kind in the region. The mayor has made the correct strategic decision to have the City employ the Faculty of Technical Sciences with a team of experts for this job, and the agreement on cooperation will be signed in a few days. The SPENS building must be modernized and adapted to the new standards.

He also said that the founding of the Center for Artificial Intelligence would contribute substantially to the development of the IT sector in Serbia.
