Founding of AI Institute Planned in Serbia
The institute would carry out research pertaining to the implementation of AI in various field, with a pronounced multidisciplinary approach in cooperation with relevant scientific research institutions, the economy and the public sector.
In addition to the scientific research projects, the institute would be in charge of analyzing and monitoring the field of AI in Serbia and providing general support to adapting AI solutions for the Serbian language, together with the public sector and the economy.
The institute would feature state-of-the-art equipment, hardware and software, necessary for carrying out all its activities. It would take part in forming public policies pertaining to the development and use of AI, primarily in the domain of its influence on the individual and the society, to the end of supporting the development of AI-based systems which protect human rights and freedoms and contribute to an improvement of the individual and the development of the society as a whole.
The plan is for the institute to have 50 employed researchers, 10 initiated multidisciplinary projects and 10 projects in cooperation with the economy by 2025.
The implementation of the Strategy, as said on the government's website, has already started with the program for scientific projects in the field of AI and the implementation of AI-based software in the public administration.
