Turkish Plan for Tourists – Masks and Thermometry Mandatory

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey has initiated a program of certification of healthy tourism, to be implemented in the summer season of 2020, says the press release by the Office for Culture and Tourism of the Embassy of Turkey in Belgrade.

– This certification program shows that Turkey will take a pioneering role regarding support of the normalization of tourism. The program entails preventive and protective steps, including air, sea and road transport, ports, vacations features, the health of the employees in the industry and the tourists themselves – said Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Turkish Culture Minister.

The minister emphasized the importance and sensitivity of this topic, regarding the certification program and the dates of normalization of processes after the pandemic.

– As the Republic of Turkey, we act with a sense of responsibility in order to enable our citizens and guests to feel comfortable in the country. There's a saying about the hospitality of the Turkish people: “Our door is always open!” That has always been our guiding principle and we will continue acting accordingly.

The program of certification of healthy tourism consists of the four main pillars regarding health and safety of travelers, employees, regulations of precautionary measures in facilities and transport.


The health and safety of passengers entails precautionary measures which need to be implemented when it comes to travelers from the moment of entry to the departure, which include the mandatory wearing of masks at the designated terminals, provision of free masks, use of thermographic cameras and thermometry upon entry to the terminal building, preparation of disinfection carpets and cabins...

Among other things, tourism employees will be obliged to take regular medical exams, and tourist accommodation facilities will need to control measures such as personal distance...
