The development of cycling is one of the main forms of sustainable urban mobility, especially in the central city parts, and the City of Novi Sad has opened a public procurement procedure for the preparation of the study “Improving Mobility Based on Cycling in the Territory of the City of Novi Sad”.

In preparing the study, it is necessary to define a plan of development of a network of cycling routes in the city's territory, in line with the preferred lines determined within the SMART plan.

Also, for the existing network of cycling lanes and routes in the territory of the City of Novi Sad, it is necessary to examine the traffic safety.

All the proposed solutions, as said, need to fit into the existing profiles of the street network.

– In line with this, it is necessary to take a view of the entire cycling infrastructure and define construction, technical and regulation measures, with special focus on priority and urgent interventions on cycling routes. It is necessary to look into the possibility of setting up two-way cycling traffic in one-way streets, the changes of the traffic regime in the street network, giving priority to cyclists over other participants in the traffic, especially on intersections which don't belong to the primary street network, to examine the possibility of splitting the traffic areas and to define a cycling traffic regime within the pedestrian zones and other predominantly pedestrian zones.

For all the proposed measures, an assessment of the impact on mobility and the possibility and the means of the implementation needs to be carried out.

Bids may be submitted by June 1, 2020, and more about the tender can be found HERE.
