The first quantities of chloroquine, a medicine used for the treatment of Covid-19, have been produced at Galenika. A total of 372,000 tablets were produced for now.

Cholorquine is a known cure for malaria, but also one of the important medicines in treating Covid-19. As RTS learns, the use of the medicine produced at Galenika will start this Tuesday.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced this Friday, April 17, on Instagram that the production of chloroquine in Serbia had begun. The substance used to produce it arrived to Serbia last week.

The director of the National Health Insurance Fund, Sanja Radojevic Skodric, earlier said for RTS that there had been enough chloroquine in Serbia for all patients even before the new production started, but that new quantities were needed, considering the growing number of patients.
