Kragujevac's Fire-rescue brigade to get new home? - surface of building next to "Metro" exceeds 2,000 square meters

Fire-rescue brigade in Kragujevac got three new special fire vehicles of make "mercedes" at the end of December 2009, which were bought from the funds of the National Investment Plan.

However, what bothers the Fire-rescue brigade for a long time is shortage of adequate space for accommodation of the unit and its technology, so that numerous vehicles are parked in the streets. That problem may be resolved soon because, according to website www.kragujevac.co.rs, technical documentation for new fire center should be completed soon, and it should be built in the vicinity of "Metro".

"Although the main project has not been elaborated yet, there are plans for construction of a building at over 2,000 square meters, which would be equipped with all necessary contents for firefighters. That would not be the place for accommodation of complete unit - the new home would be the base, but there would be premises all around the city for the needs of quicker access to different locations. In that way, part of the unit would be settled in current fire department in the city center, and part would stay in 'Zastava', as well as in industrial zone", it is stated on the website.

Over the last two years, the Fire-rescue brigade in Kragujevac has got two new vehicles, as well as special boat for rescuing people from the water. The boat was necessary since the Fire-rescue brigade in Kragujevac covers the territory that includes nine large water surfaces.

Also, every member of the unit got the up-to-date safety gear that is used by the firemen in European Union. This gear includes pants, jacket, gloves, helmet, all of which are fireproof and have special accessories for different situations.
