Producers of biocides and chemical products for disinfection will soon run out of high-percentage alcohol as the main raw material, which is why they will have to stop their production activities, unless the state takes adequate measures, certain biocide producers told Beta.

– We are asking the state to sell us alcohol from the reserves or to remove the limit on our prices – the producers, who wished to remain anonymous, said.

As they explained, the purchasing price of 96-98% alcohol before the pandemic was 90 to 95 dinars per liter, but it is now 150 dinars. On top of this, at the moment, biocide producers can't even buy it in the market.

The producers of high-percentage alcohol now dilute it to a 70% alcohol and distribute it to pharmacies and probably to health institutions, biocide producers say.

They warn that, if the production of biocides stop, the food industry will stop as well, as it can't function without disinfectants.
