New customs privileges for importers – submittal of declaration by means of Internet
Companies can submit all necessary documents for clearance of imported goods to the Customs Administration by means of Internet. This innovation was introduced on July 7, 2005. So-called customs declarations for transfer of goods across the border can now be delivered through Internet to the authorized customs office.
This enables connection of participants in customs procedure with the Customs information system. The requests for approval of electronic declarations are submitted to the Customs administration – the Directorate for information technologies, Novi Beograd, 63 Narodnih heroja Street. The declaration is submitted to the customs official the moment the customs official receives electronic message that consists of regulated set of data. Customs official can always ask for written declaration or its copy.
Acceptance of customs declaration confirms reception of data and customs official is obliged to inform the submitter on acceptance by returning message. It contains identification data of the declaration, type of noticed errors if the declaration is incorrect, or number and date of reception of declation if it is correct.
