Turkish company to build new railway section on Mediterranean corridor – Largest infrastructure project in Croatia
Anadolu Agency reports that the project would help connect Rijeka and Budapest, currently the largest infrastructure project in Croatia.
Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic and Minister of the Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure Oleg Butkovic participated in the signing ceremony with Cengiz Insaat. The agreement pertains to the Krizevci – Koprivnica – state border section.
It was signed by the head of the management of HZ Infrastruktura d.o.o. Ivan Krsic and representative of the Turkish company Mohamed Cengiz, and Plenkovic said the ambitious scheme in which 42 kilometers of rail would be lain in 42 month would be an "important strategic project for Croatia."
He emphasized that the projects of reconstruction and construction of the entire Croatian part of the Mediterranean Corridor were being financed entirely through grants of EUR 1.8 billion from EU funds.
Works on other section are also being carried out at the Croatian section of the Mediterranean Corridor, so that the Port of Rijeka would get a better rail connection with the European continent.
