Teva looking for new owner for Zdravlje factory in Leskovac
– This decision is based on Teva's strategic plan to optimize and improve the efficiency of its global capacities through a reduction of costs in line with the demands of the market and is in no way based on any shortcomings or problems regarding business performances or quality demands pertaining to the Zdravlje factory and its employees – it is said on the website of Actavis, a member of Teva Group.
Zdravlje became a member of Teva in 2016 during Actavis' global acquisition. It is one of the most modern factories in the region. Most of what it produces is exported to the world's largest markets.
Medicines produced at this factory are included in the therapies of numerous patients in Serbia and the region, as well as patients in around 40 markets worldwide. Zdravlje is one of the largest suppliers of the local pharmaceutical market, but also one of Serbia's largest exporters.
– During the process of transition and takeover by the new strategic partner, a continuous supply with new medicines will be secured in line with the previously taken obligations in the market of Serbia and other countries. Continued production of a part of the medical portfolio of Teva over the next two to three years will be agreed with the new strategic partner, so as to provide enough time for everyone to adapt to the new circumstances – it is said.
They add that the process should be completed by the end of 2020.
