New four-seat ski lift put in operation on Gobelja - Dinkić announced new investment cycle in 2010 on Kopaonik mountain

The Minister of Economy and Regional Development, Mlađan Dinkić, announced today that the new investment cycle on Kopaonik mountain would start the next year.

- On the occasion of his visit to the winter tourist center Kopaonik, Dinkić said that the state had invested much money in that tourist center and that the mountain was ready for the skiing season 2009/2010 - the Ministry of Economy announced, without giving the details of the amount and type of investments in 2010.

The Minister of Economy and the representatives of public company "Skijališta Srbije" visited ski tracks and new four-seat ski lift on Gobelja.

Dinkić, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, estimated that Kopaonik had tough competition since the visa regime for travels to European Union had been abolished for the citizens of Serbia.

- I am certain that Kopaonik can stay competitive with additional investments, and I hope that hotel and restaurant managers will realize that and not get wild with prices, and the state has already provided all the necessary infrastructure for skiers to enjoy - he said and invited the citizens of Serbia to spend the winter on snow.

The skiing season in Tourist center Kopaonik was opened two weeks ago, and the representatives of public company "Skijališta Srbije" introduced the Minister of Economy to the results of the work in 2009.

New four-seat ski lift with the capacity of 2,400 skiers per hour has been put in operation on Gobelja, as well as the artifical snowing system on ski tracks Duboka, Crvena and Crna.

The works on broadening existing tracks were finished this year, and 10 kilometers of new tracks were built as well.

In the period 2006-2009, total investments in the infrastructure on Kopaonik mountain amounted to about 2.2 billion RSD.
