Third delegation of Chinese company "Dongfeng" in Serbia - assembling of trucks in FAP to start in mid-2010

- The third delegation of Chinese manufacturer of freight vehicles "Dongfeng" has arrived in Serbia - said Mirko Stojović, the Director General of Automobile Factory Priboj (FAP).

According to Stojović, the Chinese experts will test the markets in the countries of ex-Yugoslavia in order to get the picture of the possibilities for sale of Chinese trucks and organize retail network.

- The market of Serbia will be offered about 20 "Dongfeng" trucks in January 2010. Assembling of four types of Chinese trucks in FAP will start in mid-2010, and the plan is that first 1,000 "Dongfeng" vehicles be produced in FAP already in 2010 - said Stojović.

After experiencing difficulties for about fifteen years, this former giant in production of freight vehicles expects much from the joint production of trucks in Priboj with the Chinese partner.

The recently signed contract on business-technical cooperation between companies "Dongfeng" and FAP anticipates the Government's investment of 1m EUR in modernization of equipment in Priboj in order for the assembling of Chinese trucks to be made possible in the first phase.

The second phase anticipates realization of a joint investment, after which 51% of the parts built in the trucks would be produced in Serbia.
