Instead of airplanes, "Jat Airways" buys automobiles - deadline for submitting bids on announced tender expired
"Jat Airways" will end this year with 15m EUR worth of losses, but it will enter the new year with 13 brand new vehicles that the new management has decided to buy. The deadline for submitting bids on the announced tender expired on last Thursday, so that the public will know in one month, at the latest, which automobiles will be used by managers of the national airliner. What we know at the moment is that "Jat" wants to buy one low-class and six middle-class automobiles, as well as six passenger vans.
Since the middle-class automobiles are, for example, "mercedes" of C class, "BMW" series 3, "audi A4", "peugeot 407", "škoda octavia" or "toyota avensis", it can be assumed how much the new motor pool, obviously necessary in the opinion the new management of "Jat", will cost this company, as well as the citizens of Serbia, although the details such as equipment and criteria for selection of the best bidder were not included in the public invitation. If the average price of these limousines amounts to only 15,000 EUR, which is the price of the cheapest vehicle among them - "škoda octavia", "Jat" will have to set aside 90,000 EUR for their procurement. However, if managers decide for "mercedes", as it is a tradition, that amount will easily exceed 200,000 EUR since the cheapest automobile of C class costs "only" 30,000 EUR. More expensive variants with full equipment should not be even mentioned since "škoda" may cost up to 25,000 EUR, while "mercedes" may reach the price of 75,000 EUR.
It can be said that "Jat" does not lack good automobiles. Only one year ago, that company had 14 "mercedes A170" and 5 "mercedes C200" automobiles, as well as one "mercedes E320" and one "audi A6" vehicle. In the meantime, they have bought one "škoda octavia" and one more "mercedes" of B class. There are also several "lada" and "zastava" vehicles, a "toyota corola" automobile, as well as "volkswagen" minibus and several "mercedes" vans.
