Serbia to build an icebreaker – Tender involving domestic project opens
The ship, which should be 40 meters long and nine meters wide, should serve as an icebreaker on the Danube between the Hungarian border and Belgrade in the winter period and as a lateral tow boat for other vessels in other periods of the year.
This should be a single-deck, double-propeller ship with fixed wings and balance rudders, with the machine area in the middle part.
As said in the documentation, the ship should be able to sail for around ten days without having to replenish the fuel, oil and water reserves, with seven to ten people on it.
The construction is to be supervised by the Department for Determining the Navigability of Boats, a body within the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia.
The project documentation was prepared by Albatros Design from Novi Sad and Numeric Marine from New Belgrade.
Bids may be submitted by April 15, at 10 am, and the public opening of the bids will take place ten minutes later.
