The Belgrade-based company Pure Logistics, which organizes local and international road cargo transport, was founded in 2013 by the French company Pureberry Fruits Rouges, due to the growing need for logistics in the export of fresh berries from Serbia to the Western European market.

With their own vehicles and through the cooperation with a range of subcontractors-transporters, the company has expanded its operations and now offers daily services of transport of palletized commercial goods by trucks, transport of exhibit goods, machines, outsized goods, ADR goods, consumer goods and other cargo on all routes in Europe, whether for export or import, and the amount of transport is growing year after year, according to the director, Radoje Djokovic.

– In 2018, Pure Logistics realized a growth in the turnover of 82% compared to 2017, and the positive trend continued in 2019, when the growth amounted to 81.5% compared to 2018, all thanks to the organic development from our operations and own funds – Djokovic says for our portal.

He points out that the key reasons for the company's successful development lie in being equally dedicated to small and large companies, reliability and quality of services, free consulting services for the current and potential clients and a substantial experience in the transport of primarily pharmaceutical and food products, fresh fruit, vegetables and seedlings.

– By respecting the employees and actively investing in their knowledge and better working conditions, we've created a healthy environment for a further rapid development of the company and the people it consists of – Djokovic emphasized.

In addition to companies from said fields, Pure Logistics' clients are also importers and exporters of consumer goods, laboratories, wholesalers, importers of machines, the manufacturing industry and global logistics companies.

Considering the long-standing experience in organizing the logistics for its parent company, Pure Logistics has a large number of clients from the agrarian sector, for which it organizes the transport of fresh and frozen fruit and vegetables and the transport of seedlings and equipment.

– Our rolling stock also features reefer trucks and, in addition to the standard offer, we also offer express reefer transport by smaller reefer vehicles with one or two drivers, so as to reduce the transit time to a minimum, when the deadlines are extremely short. In order to raise the quality and the reliability of the transport under controlled temperature conditions, all our measuring instruments are calibrated and certified by an independent laboratory – Djokovic says and adds that all vehicles are under CMR insurance.

According to him, agricultural products from Serbia are mostly transported to the markets of the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Scandinavia and Russia, and the top products are raspberry, blueberry, apple, plum, apricot, bell pepper and cucumber.

– When it comes to the transport of fresh fruit and vegetables, logistics companies cannot make a mistake, because any unplanned delay affects the freshness and the value of the goods in the market – our interviewee points out and adds that it is therefore very important for the entire logistics chain from the plantation to the end-user to be planned in detail and realized sticking closely to the plan.

Djokovic also mentioned the challenges that all logistics companies face, such as drivers going abroad, permits and losing time at border crossings and customs terminals.

Another problem, he says, are the deadlines for the clients to pay the transporters.

– The payment deadlines for transport services are often seen as mandatory and are often longer in practice that the payment deadlines for the transporter's suppliers toward the transporter (fuel, services, tolls, subcontractors etc.), so it's necessary to make a good financial balance – Djokovic points out.

He adds that it becomes harder to get clients in the western market each year, as the list of requests pertaining to standards for suppliers becomes longer and longer, so it's necessary to raise awareness of the need to harmonize with European and world standards in the local economy.

Our interviewee says that Pure Logistics is completing the implementation of the ISO 9001:2015 standard, after which the HACCP and IFS Logistics standards should start being implemented, and the operations should be fully harmonized with the GDP (good distribution practice) guidelines, which is one of the requirements for cooperating with renowned clients.

– We also plan to procure new reefer trucks with a load-bearing capacity of 22 tons, as well as specialized equipment for the transport of small shipments (mostly samples), which are transported at temperatures different compared to consumer goods in trucks, which is often the case – Djokovic says.

The company also aims to invest in the construction of a cooling plant storage in Belgrade.

– The vision of the general manager and owner of Pureberry and Pure Logistics, Sanja Simic Larsson, is to further strengthen the group's position in the market through this large investment and construction of such a facility. It should also make us able to provide our clients with an even wider range of logistics services – Djokovic points out and adds that, after the planned investments and the expansion of the operations, the plan is to also substantially increase the number of employees.

Paid free day for employees

Pure Logistics is proud of its care for the employees. According to Radoje Djokovic, in that spirit, an unusual decision has been made – each employee can pick a paid free day once a month, which they can spend with their friends and family.

– We believe that, in the long term, this move will prove to be extremely useful for the employees and the company, as there's no doubt that an increase in employee satisfaction will lead to an increase in the production – Djokovic pointed out.
