Woolworths has gone a step further in terms of technology compared to its competition. All the purchasers can now use a special AI device in stores to weigh fruit and vegetables, scanning the items and automatically printing out the price.

The device is very easy to use, as the purchaser puts the items on the machine without a plastic bag. It takes a few seconds for the device to recognize the shape and the variety and it is sophisticated enough to tell peaches from nectarines. It then weighs the fruit or the vegetables and ends the process.

So far, this technology is only available in three Woolworths supermarkets in Sydney, where it is being tested. The device was developed by Tiliter.
