Serbia to offer app for registration of seasonal agricultural workers to other states – eAgriculture and eAgrar announced
At the “Digital Cooperation: Transformation of Governments” event, Nedimovic said that no one else had an electronic solution for the registration of seasonal workers and that it had broken all the bureaucratic barriers.
He emphasized that, for example, pickers used to have no rights, neither health nor pension and disability insurance, and that now they were automatically registered for these and other types of insurance and taxes thanks to the app.
The minister said that 26,998 people, nearly 900,000 work days and 319 employers had been registered through the system up till then and that 99 farms used it when hiring seasonal workers.
He said that the aim was for eAgriculture to be established in Serbia, which should introduce major changes to the approach to the agrarian sector.
He also cited the full digitization of all information regarding the lease of state farming land as a good example.
The minister announced that the new project would entail the transformation of the entire Serbian agriculture, the so-called eAgrar, entailing an electronic registration of each farm.
He added that application for subsidies would also be electronic and noted that at least 40% of the registered farm owners had not even seen their parcels, while still being eligible for subsidies.
Nedimovic said that eAgrar would feature all the platforms and bases of the Ministry of Agriculture, through a project carried out in cooperation with the World Bank.
