In an effort to raise the quality of horseback riding, which has a long tradition in Cacak, the city has started amending the Detailed Regulation Plan for the planned airport Preljina so that the area intended for a hippodrome would feature a galloping track.

As the city administration told eKapija, the area intended for the hippodrome under the current plan can only accommodate a canter track, so the plan needs to be amended in order for the area to be able to feature a galloping track.

– In order for these features to be organized, the area needs to be expanded. The commission for the preparation of a preliminary design of the future hippodrome analyzed the space and a conceptual design has been prepared, defining the area necessary for a canter track and a galloping track to be organized – the city administration told eKapija.

As said in the plan, the amendments pertain to the entire area covered by the plan, with a slight expansion by around 318.00 ha, covering the southern part of Preljina and Donja Trepca. The amendments are being prepared at the initiative of the mayor and said commission.

Let us remind that, in 2017, the hippodrome of the Equestrian Club was transferred to public ownership, whereby the City of Cacak obliged to pay a compensation to the previous owners and provide the club with a new location for the hippodrome with the accompanying features. The land ownership was transferred because of the City of Cacak's plans to form an industrial zone in that location.

Last year, the city put the Detailed Regulation Plan of the Industrial Zone – Konjevici up for public review. The plan envisages the expansion of this zone, which will have a great impact on the economic development of the city.
