The passengers whose flight is cancelled or are left to wait for hours to land off will have right to ask for compensation of up to 600 EUR. This Law was passed by European Commission and it refers to all companies that fly on European lines or have flights related to intercontinental lines.

Passengers who travel on short routes and encounter the same problem will automatically obtain 250 EUR. Cancelled flights on longer routes will cost 400 EUR per passenger, whereas the passenger who lost his connection to intercontinental flight will have right to compensation of at least 600 EUR. Besides, companies will have to return the money paid for the ticket. Similar compensation will be given to the passenger whose booking is sold to someone else just before the flight.

Companies are not obliged to pay compensation for passengers if the flight is cancelled due to bad weather or other factors.
