- The companies from Kuwait may invest in civil engineering, telecommunications and energy sector in Serbia - it was announced yesterday (November 25, 2009) at the meeting between Serbian and Kuwaiti economic delegations in the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia.

A member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kuwait, Talal Jasim Al-Khorafi, said that Kuwaiti investors were interested in investments in Serbia.

The Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, Mihajlo Vesović, said that the relations between Serbia and Kuwait were traditionally good, and he introduced the representatives of the delegation to the investment opportunities in Serbia and benefits that the Government of Serbia offers to foreign investors.

According to the announcement, Kuwaiti companies may invest in real estates and tourism through investments in construction of business, hotel and spa facilities.

According to the people from the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, another potential sector of cooperation is agriculture, and it should include long-term investments in production of healthy food and cattle breeding for the needs of export to Kuwait.

Serbia could export food, meat, drugs, furniture and products of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy to Kuwait, but it is also important for the two countries to resume cooperation in the field of construction of facilities in Kuwait and military industry.

Serbia exported goods worth 539,000 USD to Kuwait in the first nine months of this year and imported 205,000 USD worth of goods from Kuwait in the same period.

The national economic delegation of Kuwait is led by Prime Minister Naser Mohamed Al-Sabah, who spoke to the Prime Minister of Serbia, Mirko Cvetković, and he is also going to speak to the President of the Parliament of Serbia, Slavica Đukić-Dejanović.

The delegation of Kuwait also includes, among the rest, Deputy Prime Minister sheik Mohamad Sabah Al-Sabah, Minister of Finance Mustafa Džasim Al-Simali, Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmad Rassid Al-Harun with the associates, as well as the Ambassador of Kuwait to Serbia, Favzi Abdulaziz Al-Džasim.

Members of the governments of Serbia and Kuwait signed the agreements on economic and technical cooperation, cultural cooperation and cooperation in tourism, and they also agreed on the cooperation in civil aviation.
