China is interested in granting Serbia the loan that would be used for improvement of energy capacities in our country. The Chinese are interested in investing part of the funds that are used for construction of bridges in our country in the energy sector of Serbia.

In addition to Borča-Zemun bridge, Chinese officials were earlier suggested construction of new modern harbor on the Danube and special duty-free industrial zone. Now, however, the investment plan also includes the energy projects. China will, in that way, join Italians, Germans and Russians.

"Electric Power Company of Serbia" has recently signed the Memorandum of cooperation with German energy company RWE on construction of hydroelectric power plants on the Danube, the Morava and the Drina. Last week Serbian delegation signed the Agreement with Italy on construction of power supply capacities worth 1.5 billion EUR.

Electricity from renewable sources

The Government of Serbia has adopted the Regulation on stimulus measures for production of electric power from renewable energy sources. The stimulus policy stipulates the guaranteed purchase prices for all electric power produced in small hydroelectric power plants, biomass-powered units, wind-generators, solar power plants and power plants that use bio-gas, landfill or sewerage gas during the period of 12 years from the beginning of production.
