The TurkStream gas pipeline was officially commissioned today at a ceremony in Istanbul.

In addition to the presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the ceremony was attended by the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and the prime minister of Bulgaria, Boyko Borisov.

Vucic pointed out that the gas pipeline would provide Serbia with gas at affordable prices, more favorable than before.

– The construction of the gas pipeline, 403 kilometers long, through our country, and then later the secondary gas pipeline as well, so that the gas would reach Vladicin Han, Ljubovija, Bajina Basta and other places, is of enormous importance for attracting investments and for the progress of industrial production – Vucic said in his statement for the media.

He added that, according to some estimates, the Serbian and the Bulgarian part of the gas pipeline might be connected in May or in September at the latest.

Putin stated that the cooperation of Russia and Turkey on the TurkStream project was a good example of a good cooperation of two countries in complex international relations and that the project was important not just for those two countries, but for citizens throughout Europe as well.
