Tender announced for second fixed telephony operator
The Republic Telecommunications Agency (Ratel) announced the tender today (November 20, 2009) for the second fixed telephony operator in Serbia.
According to the ad that was published in newspaper "Politika", all telecommunication companies that have over 1m subscribers to telecommunication services and registered more than 200m EUR worth of incomes in 2008 can participate in the tender.
The most favorable bid will be selected on the basis of the amount offered for the fixed telephony license, and if minimum 2 qualified bids are submitted, an auction will be held at which the starting price will be the highest offered amount for the license.
The condition for participation in the tender is payment of the deposit or submission of the banking guarantee of 10m EUR. The applications for purchase of tender documentation, which costs 25,000 RSD and 500 EUR, can be submitted between November 30th and December 4th.
The deadline for submission of bids is January 12, 2010, at noon, and the bids will be opened in the premises of "Ratel" in Belgrade at 12.30 PM.
The winner will be selected prior to February 10th, and the license will be issued within eight days from the moment the whole fee for the license is paid to the budget of Serbia.
The license is issued on period of 10 years with the possibility of extension of its validity for another 10 years in accordance with the regulations.
If the winner does not have the headquarters on the territory of Serbia, it must found a company in Serbia and be its sole owner, so that the license can be transferred to that company.
