US company "Simon plasma energy" from Washington, which was supposed to build about 1.2 billion USD worth of state-of-the-arts power plant in Bor, has definitely given up that project.

This was announced at the press conference on Thursday (November 19, 2009) by Branislav Rankić (SRS), the Mayor of Bor, who also pointed out that the reason for that was the global economic crisis.

When the intention for commencement of construction of the power plant was announced on November 12, 2007, it was said that, once those capacities were built, 2,500 people would get jobs in the first phase, while another 4,000 people would be employed later. Their average salaries, according to the business plan presented by the US company, should amount to about 500 USD. The representatives of "Simon plasma energy" also pointed out on that occasion that the company would be using cutting-edge "peps technology" created by Simon Bernard, the owner of that US company.

- Total of 30 plasma units and power plants will be built within one year, and they will be using cutting-edge technology to produce electric energy at the prices that are much lower than the standard ones - the representative of the US company pointed out on that occasion. - In addition, we have promised to remove all the communal waste from the territory of the municipality of Bor.

Simon Bernard participated in the first, unsuccessful tender for privatization of Mining-Smelter Basin "Bor", but his offer was immediately rejected as incomplete. On that occasion, the owner of the US company did not want to answer the question of the Tender Commission about the activities of his company, and he only said that it was "business secret".
