The Minister of Economy of Serbia, Mlađan Dinkić, said yesterday (November 17, 2009) that he expected the contracts worth few hundred million euros to be signed in 2010 as the result of the improvement of economic cooperation between Serbia and Algeria.

At the end of the two-day meeting of the Mixed Committee for Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between the two countries, Dinkić said that there was political will for joint participation of companies from Serbia and Algeria in realization of 150 billion USD worth of projects for public works and construction of infrastructure in Algeria.

He said that Serbian and Algerian building companies would take part in implementation of the projects for construction of dams, roads and infrastructure in Algeria.

Dinkić announced that the meeting between the presidents of Serbia and Algeria would be held in 2010, and that its aim would be the consolidation of both political and economic cooperation between the countries.

He said that the economic forum with the aim of improving the cooperation between the entrepreneurs would be organized before that.

It was not specified yesterday if the presidents of the two countries would meet in Serbia or in Algeria.

Algerian Minister of Water Resources, Abdel Malek Selal, said that the meeting of the Committee that had been held after 20-year break would create the base for better cooperation and establishment of legal framework thanks to the agreements that had been signed at that meeting.

The agreements on cooperation between Serbia and Algeria in the field of agriculture, the Memorandum of understanding and cooperation between the national export promotion agencies of Serbia and Algeria, as well as the agreements on cooperation between the chambers of commerce of the two countries, cultural cooperation and cooperation between the national archives in exchange of documents, were all signed at the end of the meeting of the Committee.
