Copy linkConstruction of Morava Corridor starts – Highway of 112 kilometers between Pojate and Preljina
Nine days after the signing of the agreement on the construction of the Morava Corridor with Bechtel-Enka, worth EUR 745 million, the construction of this route officially began. The future highway will be 112 kilometers long and the works should be completed in four years.
The ceremony in Jasika, a place near Krusevac, marked the beginning of the works on the construction of the Pojate-Preljina highway, which will connect Corridors 10 and 11, that is, half a million people who live in central Serbia.
At the ceremony, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that the section between Pojate and Krusevac would be completed in two years, that the Cacak-kraljevo section would be completed in three years and that the entire highway would be finished in four years.
The route will connect all the major towns in central Serbia, with a total populace of over half a million – Cacak, Kraljevo, Vrnjacka Banja, Trstenik, Krusevac, Stalac and Cicevac, as well as Corridor 10 and the Milos Veliki highway (Corridor 11).
The direct of the Morava Corridor project, Andy Millunzi, said that the Morava Corridor would be the first 5G highway.
– The Morava Corridor will also have an important and massive flood protection system and this is the first time that such a system has been built in the Balkans – Millunzi pointed out.
The new highway will be of great direct and indirect importance for 242,000 people in the Rasina District, as its completions would help upgrade nearly all areas of the economy, especially the industry.
The most modern highway will be built “on the three Morava rivers”, and the project will also entail the regulation of the river beds in the length of 68 kilometers, the installation of TC devices and the implementation of new technologies.
The construction of a TC corridor along the highway requires state-of-the-art optical and digital cables, free Wi-Fi stations, modern traffic control that is, intelligent transport systems, and other features.
The first digital highway in Serbia will be the widest highway in the country so far, wider than the current ones by a total of 1.6 meters.
The Morava Corridor will consist of three sections: Pojate-Krusevac (27.83 km), Krusevac-Adrani (53.88 km) and Adrani-Mrcajevci-Preljina (30.66 km).
The highway is designed for a maximum speed of 130 kilometers per hour. A total of 11 interchanges and 130 other structures, of which 71 bridges, 23 overpasses, five underpasses and 31 culverts, will be built.
