The works on the construction of the Morava Corridor are to begin on December 15 at a location near Krusevac, Tanjug learns.

The commercial contract on the construction of the E-761 highway, the Pojate-Preljina section of the Morava Corridor, was signed on December 5 in the presence of the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic. The contract was signed by Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic and representatives of the Turkish-American consortium Bechtel Enka UK Limited, Michael Wilkinson and Mehmet Tara.

The Morava Corridor will be 112.3 kilometers long and connect all the major towns in central Serbia between Pojate and Cacak – Krusevac, Kraljevo, Trstenik and Vrnjacka Banja.

The route will connect an area with a populace of 500,000, and the future highway will be a connection between two European corridors – 10 and 11.

The commercial contract envisages the price of the construction of the highway of EUR 745 million, as well as additional works and direct and indirect material costs of 20%.

The contract envisages for Krusevac to be connected to Corridor 10 in two years, for Kraljevo and Cacak to be connected to the Milos Veliki highway in less than three years and for the entire project to be completed in four years.
