The representatives of companies "Srbijagas" and "BH-Gas" talked about transportation of natural gas, "Južni tok" project, underground gas storages, development plans and future directions of cooperation at yesterday's (November 3, 2009) meeting in Sarajevo.

According to the words of the CEO of "BH-Gas", Almir Bećarević, they agreed that technical teams should find the way for as optimal use of the existing gas pipeline as possible, that is, for increase in its capacity to the extent that will enable connection of, maybe, one of the steam power plants. That is the task that should be defined within the next three months.

- We will receive the offer from "Srbijagas" in the following period for storing gas in Banatski Dvor, and that form of cooperation, if it is mutually acceptable, may be realized already during the next heating season - said Bećarević.

At the meeting, which was also attended by the representatives of "Energoinvest", the two delegations talked about their development plans, that is, improvement of existing situation and construction of new gas pipeline with the aim of increasing the level of gas consumption.

The delegations also talked about "Južni tok" project, and it was pointed out on that occasion that Serbia had made larger progress than all the other surrounding countries.

- We have informed the delegation from Serbia that "Energoinvest" and "BH Gas" have signed the letter of intent for participation in "Južni tok" project with the anticipated capacity - said Bećarević.

According to the words of the CEO of "Srbijagas", the gas supply crisis that emerged in January 2009 taught everybody the lesson that mutual relations should be cherished since we all depend on each others.

Bajatović said that the first phase of construction of the gas storage in Banatski Dvor was about to be finished and that 300m cubic meters of gas would be stored in that facility for the time being. Serbia has also reserved additional 200m cubic meters of gas in the gas storages in Hungary.

- We want the cooperation between "Srbijagas" and "BH gas" to be developed on the commercial basis, that we keep the politics aside, and that good commercial projects be our priorities - Bajatović pointed out.
