Construction of substation "Beograd 20" to start after 30-year break - EMS announces new projects

After 30 years have passed since the elaboration of the project was started and after three locations have been changed, construction of substation "Beograd 20" is going to start very soon in Mirijevo, and it should enable undisturbed supply of power to the capital city of Serbia. People in public company "Elektromreže Srbije" expects that substation of 400/110 kV to be completed in 2011.

- This is going to be the second transformer substation in Belgrade with the voltage of 400 kV. The first such station - "Beograd 8" - is situated in Leštane. Construction of "Beograd 20" is financed by "Elektromreže Srbije". We soon expect selection of the contractor for construction works, which should be shortly followed by commencement of construction of "Beograd 20" – Rajko Gverić, the Manager of the Group for substations within the Investment Sector in EMS, told "eKapija".

He said that the funds for construction of that substation would be provided by EMS, while the amount ot the investment would be known as soon as the contractor was selected on the tender.

The project for construction of substation "Beograd 20" was elaborated by "Elektroistok-project bureau", and the main contractor was "Elektroistok-izgradnja".

Long-distance power line Niš-Macedonian border

Public company for electricity transfer and management of transfer systems plans to finish construction of long-distance power line Niš-Macedonian border in 2010.

- The first phase of construction of 400 kV long-distance power line Niš-Macedonian border has been finished, that is, Niš-Leskovac has been built. The works on the second section - Leskovac-Macedonian border, are in progress – said Gverić.

Gverić points out that 35m EUR have been invested in that project, part of which was provided from the loan of the European Commission, while the rest was provided by EMS.

Gverić says that EMS's partners in realization of the first phase of works were "ABS Minel", "Elektromontaža", "Energoprojekt", while EMS has signed the contract with a company from Spain for the works in the second phase.

People from "Elektromreže Srbije" announce the new project that is being prepared at the moment - interconnective long-distance power line Serbia-Romania.

- The project for long-distance power line Pančevo-Rešica was backed by the European Commission, which financed elaboration of the feasibility study, preliminary project, and the project for estimate of influence on environment. We expect the realization of that project to start in 2010 - said MA Dragan Balkoski from EMS.

He points out that many investors are interested in construction of wind-generators, and that the conditions for their construction are being tested in east Serbia, so that EMS is getting ready to connect the capacities for production of electric power from renewable sources to the transfer network.

Energy Fair

At the Energy Fair that was held between October 14 and 16 at the Belgrade Fair, EMS presented the projects that have been implemented since 2005, the ongoing projects, and the future plans of that company.

The Association of Economic Propagandists of Serbia granted the certificate to public company "Elektromreža Srbije" for successful promotional appearance at the Fair. EMS and "Srbijagas" shared the first place, while the third was company ABB.
