The foundation stone for the German factory GPK, that is, production facilities where wheels for waste containers and baskets will be produced, has been laid down at the Industrial Zone Southeast in Zrenjanin. The value of the investment is around EUR 3 million, and the construction should be completed in July, whereas the production is planned to begin in August 2020, the City of Zrenjanin says in a press release.

The factory operates within the Berlin-based EKH Group.

The company's owner, Klaus Paul, told the press that one of the reasons they were investing in Zrenjanin was the city's excellent geostrategic position.

– EU member states Hungary and Romania are not for from here, and we have clients in these countries, as well as in Italy. Another reason is the highly qualified workforce in Zrenjanin, and the third reason is the remarkable cooperation with the local self-government and the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.

He added that the company produced components for environmental protection and that they wanted to supply the European market from Zrenjanin, while also trying to penetrate the Russian market through Serbia's connections with that country.

The director of GPK in Zrenjanin, Zoran Sipka, said that, in the first phase, a production facility would be built and that 15 to 20 people would be employed and added that the number of employees would be considerably larger in the second phase.

As he said, the company will produce plastic and rubber components, primarily container and basket wheels.

– I'd like to thank the Zrenjanin-based company SM Inzenjering for the remarkable cooperation and I hope that we will all meet again here very soon, open the facility and start the production – Sipka added.

Companies from Italy, Belgium and South Korea operate at the Industrial Zone Southeast, and the Chinese company Shandong Linglong Tire is also building a factory on 500,000 m2, Beta writes.
