Regional final of Zogarija Alpe-Adriatic-Danube event gathers over 300 children in Belgrade

The regional 2019 final of the international event Zogarija Alpe-Adriatic-Danube, was held this Saturday, October 12, in Belgrade.

Zogarija is an international event for school children, covering nine countries of the region: Serbia, Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Montenegro.

It originates in Slovenia and was designed by the company Media Sport, which has been organizing it successfully for 14 years now, to the delight of children from throughout the region, the Slovenian Business Club says in a press release.

This year's final was hosted by Vojvoda Misic Elementary School in the municipality of Savski Venac. In addition to the host, the event featured schools from Cajetina (Serbia), Jastrebarsko (Croatia), Banjaluka (Republika Srpska), Maribor (Slovenia), Pljevlja (Montenegro) and Demir Kapija (North Macedonia).

The program included various activities, from 3-on-3 football, agility games, a knowledge quiz, games involving teachers, “A Young Journalist” game, to music and dance performances.

The children learned about the importance of environmental protection, collected paper waste and processed old paper to produce letters, created figures from waste plastic and learned about the production of homemade food through creative health food workshops.

The main idea of this project is to present a healthy lifestyle to children between 7 and 11 years of age through games and sport competitions.

This event is a unique way for children to learn how to protect the environment and be healthier. The project promotes values necessary for the development of each young person, especially fair play, equality, solidarity, connecting, honesty, tolerance and creativity.


Over 300 children from the region took part in the final.

The event was supported by the Slovenian Business Club, the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Serbia and numerous companies, namely, Triglav Osiguranje, Celjske mesnine, Cedevita, Nectar, DON DON, Perutnina Ptuj and Jaffa.
