MIHAJLOVIC: Belgrade-Sarajevo highway to be built as a ring road

The Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia, Zorana Mihajlovic, has talked to the new Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Republic of Serbia, Aida Smajic, with the main topic of the meeting being joint infrastructural projects.

– We have a large number of joint infrastructure projects and want to make our cooperation more efficient, thereby also showing as a region that we can cooperate and move forward – Mihajlovic said.

She said that the most important project for the two countries was to build the Belgrade-Sarajevo highway, which will be built as a ring road, connecting the two countries along two routes, it is said on the website of the Ministry of Construction.

– The works on the construction of the first section, Sremska Raca-Kuzmin, have already begun and we expect the construction site to be visited by the presidents of Serbia and Turkey and the chairman of the Presidency of B&H during the visit of the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to Serbia. The project-technical documentation is being prepared for the second section, from Pozega to Kotroman – Mihajlovic said.

She emphasized the importance of the completion of the joint border crossing in the territory of B&H, which will enable the opening of the bridge between Ljubovija and Bratunac, built by Serbia, to open for traffic, as the bridge is of great importance for the citizens and the economy of the two countries.

Smajic said that the diplomatic relations between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina were good and that the best segment of the cooperation was the economy and that the most important joint project of the two states was the construction of the Belgrade-Sarajevo highway.
