Reconstruction of Kneza Milosa Street postponed for 2020 – Underground garage project abandoned, aboveground facility to be built
The planned underground garage with around 420 spaces, for which a building permit was issued, will not be built below the street after all. It has been determined that excavation works in the length of nearly one kilometer would have too much of a negative impact on the functioning of the traffic, as Kneza Milosa Street would need to be fully closed for cars and public transport vehicles for at least a year and a half.
– In order to avoid closing this traffic route for such a long period of time, we have given up on the underground garage and will build a public garage in the street on a plot of land owned by the city. This will solve the problem of parking in Kneza Milosa Street, which is not zoned and where vehicles are not properly parked even now. This will be a cheaper solution – says the main urban planner of Belgrade, Marko Stojcic.
