Internet store Amazon announced today (October 7, 2009) that it had started selling "Kindle", the device for reading books and newspapers in electronic format, in over 100 countries, including Serbia.

All those interested can order "Kindle" at the price of 279 USD, and the deliveries will start on October 19. The price does not include duties and other taxes that are charged by local authorities.

Amazon has, so far, been delivering "Kindle" only to USA at the price of 299 USD, and the price of American issue is now lowered to 279 USD.

The owners of "Kindle" have at their disposal over 200,000 books in English, published by more than 1,000 publishers, such as "Penguin", "Hachette", "Harper Collins" and "Lonely Planet". The books can be downloaded from the website of Amazon's Internet store in less than 60 seconds, and their prices are mainly lower than the prices of paper issues.

The users of "Kindle" can subscribe to 85 newspapers and magazines from all over the world, such as Italian "La Stampa", Spanish "El paisa", French "Le Monde", Brasilian "O Globo", German "Allgemeine Zeitung", and US "New York Times".

"Kindle" utilizes technology of third generation to connect to Internet, just like mobile phone, so that wireless network is not necessary for the download of publications.
