No parking problems for skiers at Kopaonik this winter – Construction of garage with heliport at Ski Center Kopaonik in its final stage, another 4 ski tracks planned

The popularity of the Ski Center Kopaonik is growing year after year, and with it the number of guests, which leads to huge parking problems.

For this reason, the construction of the parking garage and heliport complex began last summer at the Ski Center.

– This project is very important for the Ski Center, as it will regulate the long term problem of parking in the peak season and provide comfort to the tourists – the PE Ski Resorts of Serbia pointed out for eKapija. This company, which runs the Ski Center, finances this RSD 570 million project together with the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Telecommunications, whereas the investor is the Ministry of Defense.

During the winter season 2018/19, the works stopped due to, they say, adverse weather conditions, but they continued this summer and the construction should be completed before the beginning of the winter season 2019/20.

The construction of the complex is in the final stage, and the contracts on the first and the second phase of the construction of the parking garage are turnkey contracts, signed with a consortium led by M Enterijer Gradnja d.o.o. Beograd as the contractor. The other members of the consortium are Masinoprojekt KOPRING Beograd, as the designer of the parking garage, and NEO Aerodromes Engineering d.o.o. Novi Beograd, as the designer of the heliport.

The future parking garage will fit conceptually into the surrounding area. It will be accessible and safe.

The garage will have four above-ground tiers, with 309 parking spaces.

The PE Ski Resorts of Serbia says that the project is harmonized with the characteristics of this building type, the climate in the location and the lifecycle of the basic structures and that modern construction materials, namely, reinforced concrete, aluminum, steel, membranes and Eternit slabs, plaster surfaces and others, were used.

The heliport at the Ski Center Kopaonik will be a surface level heliport, according to the ICAO classification. The heliport is meant for public use, for take-off and landing operations in daytime and nighttime VFR conditions.

The most suitable helicopter for the Ski Center Kopaonik is MI17 and all the physical characteristics of the future heliport are set up for that model. In addition to that, the heliport will meet all the design and operating criteria for the operations of double-engine and single-engine helicopters defined by the standards.

In addition to the new garage, the Ski Center Kopaonik will soon feature new ski tracks as well. The PE Ski Resorts of Serbia reminds that the final works on the construction of the new ski track in the Krcmar location, which eKapija has already written about, are being completed, but also reveals that a contract was signed on the construction of 4 new ones, for which the building permits are currently being obtained.
