"Pharma Swiss" to open pharmaceutical factory in Serbia – 20m EUR worth of investment
Swiss pharmaceutical company "PharmaSwiss" announced today (October 1st, 2009) that the construction of a pharmaceutical factory in Belgrade should commence in mid-2010, in which 20m EUR would be invested.
- The factory should employ about 200 people, and the beginning of production is expected in 2012 – said Goran Stojanović, the Production Development Manager in "Pharma Swiss" in Serbia.
He pointed out that the new factory would increase production capacities of "Pharma Swiss" in Serbia four to five times, and he added that the current annual production amounted to about 9m packs of pharmaceutical products.
Stojanović said that the new factory would be producing both products from the existing portfolio and some new drugs.
According to the plan, the drugs produced in the new factory will be exported to the markets of Poland, Lithuania, Letonia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, the countries of ex-Yugoslavia, Greece, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, Israel and Turkey.
Stojanović added that the export of drugs to the markets of former Soviet Union, primarily Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Mid-Asian countries, such as Kazakhstan, would also be taken in consideration.
A member of the Administrative Board of "Pharma Swiss" in Switzerland, Petr Nemec, said that the share of that company in Serbian drugs market had been estimated at about 12%.
Nemec said that "Pharma Swiss" operated in 20 countries of Europe, that it had 750 employees, and that it expected about 220m EUR worth of turnover in Europe in 2009, one third of which should be the result of the company’s operations in Serbia.
"Pharma Swiss" opened the unit for production of drugs in Serbia in 2005.
