The City of Novi Sad has made an agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on the reconstruction and development of SPENS.

The EBRD has agreed to finance and manage the consulting services pertaining to supporting SPENS in updating the executed evaluation of capital investments and developing a feasibility study by presenting in more detail the various possibilities of achieving energy efficiency, as well as in reconstructing the facility to the end of saving water resources and estimating the most efficient mechanism of financing in order to support the reconstruction of SPENS.

After the consulting task is completed, the City will continue its talks with the EBRD in order to secure financing to the end of the implementation of the project, the city administration announced in a statement.

As announced earlier, the Center for High Technology might be founded within SPENS, and more about it can be found in a separate article.

On that occasion, Mayor of Novi Sad Milos Vucevic signed the confirmation of the city’s dedication to the preparation of the Green City Action Plan, directed at the EBRD. The City of Novi Sad has thereby confirmed its interest in preparing the action plan in question. As part of the city’s obligations, an investment project will be initiated in one of the following areas: buildings with low carbon level and climate resilience, water and waste waters, solid waste, public transport, utility energy systems (remote heating/cooling), street lighting and RES infrastructure.

– We are glad that we will also work together on procuring 30 new vehicles for the city’s public transport service, and I can also announce that, together with the city’s heating plant, we will prepare a study of how the PUE Novosadska Toplana might use renewable energy sources – Zsuzsanna Hargitai said.
