Spatial plan for restricted-purpose area in Kostolac’s coal basin

Viminacium

The Government of Republic of Serbia has recently made the decision about designing the Spatial plan for the restricted-purpose area within Kostolac’s coal basin, which includes the whole territory of city of Požarevac and certain parts of territory of the municipality of Veliko Gradište (locations Sirakovo, Majilovac and Kurjače).

The Spatial plan will contain detailed elaboration (on the level of the regulation plan) for the conveyor belt corridor; the complex for expansion of strip mine “Drmno”, ash dump within the internal dump for barren land from the coal strip mine, with the ash pipeline corridor from steam power plant Kostolac B to ash dump; industrial railway corridor – connecting railway station Stig with steam power plant Kostolac B (Drmno); the corridor for plaster emulsion transportation to the dump in strip mine Drmno; the corridor for transportation of mining machines to with strip mine ”Ćirkovac” to strip mine “Drmno”, as well as factories for production of plaster elements.

Viminacium

The Republic Spatial Planning Agency will be responsible for designing the Spatial plan, and it will be completed and put in effect within the next nine months. The funds are provided by public company “Electric Power Company of Serbia” and the Republic Spatial Planning Agency.

In addition to this industrial-production aspect of the Plan, another very important task is creation of conditions for development of future tourist hit destination of Serbia – archeological site “Viminacium”.
