The construction of the high-speed route from Loznica to Sabac will begin at the start of November with preparatory construction works on the bridge over Sava river while the compulsory acquisition of land will come before that, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure told Loznicke Novosti portal.

– The route in question is a part of Project of construction of state road IB sections Ruma-Sabac (motorway) and Sabac- Loznica (high-speed route) around 80 km in total length, out of which Sabac – Loznica section is around 55km long. The project covers the construction of the bridge over Sava river with access structures. Detailed regulation plan for Sabac, Loznica and Bogatic municipality (DRP) is currently being done. DRP for the territory of Bogatic municipality has passed the public review, DRP for the Sabac area is currently up for review while in Loznica they are coordinating the means of coastal protection from flooding on Drina river and the route of the future IB road section with PUC Srbijavode . As soon as the process id finished, DPR will be put up for public review. After the DPR is adopted, preparation of preliminary design, project design and obtaining location requirements will begin. All planning document and the project design should be finished by the end of the year, the Ministry said.

The Ministry confirmed that the road route would finally be determined then, for now they only had preliminary solutions.

– The plan is to begin works on the bridge over Sava in November of the current year. Republic of Serbia is obliged to finish planning documents and the project design which are the basis for the project realization while the contractor should prepare the project for the construction permit and the execution of works. The contractor has one year to prepare the project documentation while the execution of works should last between three and four years. We are negotiating with Azerbaijan about the loan for the project, and expect to sign the contract by the end of the year. Serbia's state budget could provide the remaining amount, the Ministry said.

Let us remind that the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Serbia H.E.Mr. Eldar Hasanov said in September 2018 and repeated in May that the state adopted a decision to grant a EUR 210 million loan to Serbia and that Azerbaijan was willing to help Serbia prepare the project-technical documentation, meaning their company Azvirt would be the contractor. Azvirt had previously done construction on motorway sections in Serbia.

What is of interest to individuals that own the property along the designated route of the future road is in what way will the compulsory acquisition be conducted and was the price for the acquired land already determined.

The Ministry said that the land acquisition will happen at the same time as the rest of the works, and the land would be estimated according to its real market value.
