Port Governance Agency has published a tender for the preparation of study determining port areas for marinas in Kladovo and Golubac.

Bids for preparing the study for the future marina in Golubac should be submitted by September 9 and the study for Kladovo marina by September 16.

The Agency will, within its competence, determine the port areas for marines - special waterway ports intended for the reception, storage and equipment of vessels and will issue licenses for performing port activities in marinas for a 10-year period, says the statement on the Agency website.

The statement adds that together with creating favourable conditions for boosting passenger water traffic, namely cruising, that resulted in opening new passenger ports and ending cruise seasons successfully, Agency has also focused its operations towards developing marinas.

– By acknowledging the role marinas have in nautical tourism growth the Agency will put its efforts toward trying to regulate this field for the first time, the statement said.

The Danube, Sava and Tisa rivers as well as the Danube–Tisa–Danube (DTD) canal system offer a chance for tourists to visit Serbia through cruising these rivers on their own or on rented vehicles. the advantages of defining a marina network and their development are manifold. First off all, other types of thematic tourism would grow, namely rural, hunting an wine tourism which in turn would increase profits of local governments, the Agency pointed out and added that the Agency's priority would be improving the nautical economy, in order to make marinas a popular and equally important part of nautical tourism.
