"Grundfos" to invest 70m EUR in Inđija - contract signed for construction of factory
(a detail from the signing of the agreement)
Danish manufacturer of industrial pumps "Grundfos" signed the contract with the representatives of the municipality of Inđija today (September 22, 2009) for construction of 70m EUR worth of factory that will employ 500 workers.
That investment is one of the largest direct investments in Vojvodina and Serbia.
The factory will be built in the northeast working zone, on the parcel of 15 ha in the vicinity of Novi Sad-Belgrade highway.
The Country Manager of "Grundfos" in Serbia, Saša Ilić, announced that the construction of the factory would start in 2010, and that it would have several production programmes, mainly intended for export.
The Mayor of Indjija, Goran Ješić, said that the negotiations had stretched over very long period of time, "which once again confirms that big companies are cautious when making decisions about large investments".
- We find it very signficant that one of the world's largest brands decided to invest in Inđija. That is another confirmation that Inđija has plenty to offer to large investors - said Ješić.
The contract was signed in the presence of the Ambassador of Denmark to Serbia, Mete Kjulel Nilsen, who said that that investment would stimulate other Danish companies to invest in Serbia.
Company "Grundfos" was founded in 1945, and it is now owned by "Poul Due Jensen Foundation".
"Grundfos" is one of the largest manufacturers of water pumps and, with the annual production of over 10m pumps, it covers 50% of the global market.
