The US Chamber of Commerce in Serbia (AmCham) will organize the Conference on socially responsible operations on September 18th in Belgrade's hotel "Hyatt". The name of the event is "Corporate social responsibility at the time of the economic crisis", and the participants in the conference will try to explain how large companies reacted on the crisis, and how the current situation affects investments in non-profitable projects.

The special guest of the conference will be Stephen Jordan, the Vice President and the Executive Director of "Business Civic Leadership Center" within the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington. The participants will also be addressed by the Deputy Prime Minister of Republic of Serbia, Božidar Đelić, the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia, Radovan Jelašić, the CEO of the Republic Health Insurance Institute, Svetlana Vukajlović, and the Assistant to the Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Aleksandar Vesić. The programme of the event will also include presentation of the best corporate responsibility practices of the companies members of AmCham.

- Due to global connection of the market, current crisis has negative effects on the global economy more than ever before, as well as on socially responsible activities of companies. The focus of the conference will be on large companies' relations with consumers, suppliers, employees, social community and environment during recession - said Bojana Ristić, the CEO of the Executive office of the US Chamber of Commerce in Serbia.

American Chamber of Commerce in Serbia recognizes the importance of socially responsible operations as the theme that draws growing attention of the public, and that is why it strives to introduce business sector to students and graduates of the Belgrade University through cooperation with the Career Development Center, participates in the activities of UNDP's Global Agreement, and backs projects that are of great significance to the community and environment.
