New hall and artificial rocks for climbing in Kosutnjak – Construction project worth EUR 12 million starts
The multifunctional hall for various sports will be built on 3.36 ha, and the total value of the investment is EUR 12 million. The facility is being built as an extension of the National Training Center in Kosutnjak, and its exterior and features will make it unique in the region, the Institute says on its website.
The project entails the construction of a hall for wrestling, judo, taekwondo, karate, archery, weightlifting and sport climbing. The plan also includes a gym, a court for tournaments and ball sports, but also a section for relaxation. The completion of the works is expected for early 2021.
Let us remind that, in late May 2019, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Youth and Sport, the Institute for Sport and Sport Medicine and W.D. Concord West, the construction company which will execute the works.
The construction of two artificial rocks for sport climbing began in March and is in progress. They will be located close to the Institute's stadium.
The construction of artificial rocks is being carried out in line with the standards of the International Federation of Sport Climbing, since the intention is for the facility to be used for international sports events.
The reconstruction of the Institute's management building should be completed in late 2019, whereby the laboratories for medicine, psychology, sports analytics and the INDOC department would be connected to the end of raising the level of services within this unique sports institution.
The General Plan of Belgrade also entails a full reconstruction of the sports infrastructure of the Institute in Kosutnjak in 2021.
