appearance last night (August, 24th, 2009) in Belgrade. She has given a two-hour spectacle at Usce in front of 40.000 visitors, as a part of her world tour “Sticky & Sweet”.

It was expected that at least 50.000 people would come to see Madonna in her first appearance in the Serbian capital, but that didn’t happen.

Weather because of her last year’s concert at Budva’s beach, Jaz, which brought many people over from Serbia, or because of the crisis, as the cheapest ticket was 2.990 RSD, which seemed to be too much for music lovers, or because of any other reason, there was too much of empty space at Usce last night.

Usce was crowded at about 8.00 PM, and the ticket office was opened until 10.00 PM, and people were without a problem buying the tickets, even tough the concert was scheduled for 9.00 PM.

The crowd, used to delay of bigger events, easily filled up the space at Usce. But, since they were late, Madonna decided to get “late” herself, and the concert started only after one hour of delay. Many got anxious, so disapproving shouts could be heard.

Ant then, a little bit after 10.00 PM, Usce was finally moved.

On impressively huge stage, which was surrounded from both sides by two large lighting Ms, the big cube finally begun dissolving, computer animated ball came to the goal and the queen of the pop could finally appear on the scene.

Sitting on the throne, Madonna appeared in front of Belgrade citizens and the show could get started. She opened the concert with the song “Candy Shop”, then continued with “Beat Goes on”, in which she was joined through LED screens by Farrel Williams and later by West. We returned to the 20s of the last century with a white cabriolet that came on the scene.

“Are you ready, Serbia?”, asked Madonna, and the crowed excitingly approved. In the song “Human Nature”, Britney Spears also appeared from the screen.

The highlight of the concert was when she performed the famous hit song “Vogue”, after which the concert got more playful. Madonna jumped over a rope, climbed a stool, made dance exhibitions, played the guitar, and all that in the age of 51.

She contributed a few minutes to her dear colleague, Michael Jackson. With a mélange of his three songs and a dancer who imitated Jackson’s appearance, Madonna shouted “Put your hands up for the greatest artist the world has ever seen. Long live the king!”, and the audience followed her with ovations.

We also heard “Dress you up”, “She’s not me”, “Music”, “Holiday”, “Devil wouldn’t Recognize you”, “4Minutes”… All that with fantastic special effects, great choreography, dancers and the band. The audience could also discover Madonna’s voice imperfection, which is no news, as she was supported with singing vocals and played songs. They forgave her not such great vocal capabilities, as she gave a performance that was everything but ordinary.

In such perfectly directed spectacle, Madonna was showing the audience a little bit of everything from her impressive career, to the last second.

A little bit of pop, latino, gypsy music, rep and hip hop, she also showed how she can play angrily the guitar. She has turned 51 recently, but that doesn’t bother her at all according what she showed last night.

To keep up with this kind of show, with so much energy, dancing, and signing, not everyone can handle. That’s why, she’s probably one of most successful women singers in the history of music, and that’s why her fans admire her so much. Madonna ended the spectacle with ‘flaming” hit song “Give it 2 me”, when the entire Usce scene was up dancing. At the end the screens had written “Game Over” and the show was over.

Madonna’s concert attracted many famous persons. VIP seats were full, and besides musical starts, both folk and pop, there were many politicians at Usce, like Dragan Sutanovac, Cedomir Jovanovic, Bojan Pajtic, Oliver Dulic, Aleksandar Antic, Zoran Alimpic etc.
