Visitor Center built at Fetislam fortress on the Danube on 1,200 m2 – Project worth EUR 2.3 million
The “Inheritances at the Danube Cross-Border” project was co-financed by the EU through the IPA funds within the cross-border cooperation of Romania and Serbia. The total budget of the project is EUR 2.3 million. The EU donation for its implementation in the municipality of Kladovo amounts to EUR 1,039,000, and the local self-government participates with 15%.
The project leader is the municipality of Kladovo, whereas the partners are the Diocese of Turnu Severin, the municipality of Brosteni and the Associations of Lupsa.
– The construction of the Visitor Center is one of the segments of the project whose main goal is to increase the attractiveness of the cultural and the free tourism in the border area of the Bor District and the Mehedinti District – said Nevenka Boldorac, the head of the cabinet of the president of the municipality of Kladovo, says the official website of this municipality.
The expectations are to make the tourism features more complete with the construction of the Visitor Center at the entrance to the medieval fortress of Fetislam, thereby contributing to the affirmation of the tourism network in the cross-border zones of the two countries, according to Mihai Korkodel, a research manager from Turnu Severin. At the end of the project, whose realization began on June 8, 2017, and which ended June 7, 2019, a press conference was held in Kladovo, where the activities were presented and where it was confirmed that this was the most valuable contract carried out by the municipality of Kladovo within the cross-border cooperation program.
